A Rainy Day

Not much to say. Boys are sick, I am working on my book but my muse is off. I submitted a piece to National Geographic Traveler. It's hard for me to cram things into 200 words and let the beauty flow. I guess I have too much hot air!
My knitting is going well. A good source of relaxation. I am reading a wonderful book called "Casting off" by Nicole R. Dickson. Find it and read it.

I at first thought this was Midnight BUT my son Ian said "Oh, Bagheera... and upon closer examination and seeing the gold eyes it is Bagheera.

This is Midnight on the left yawning and my son Daniel's Bagheera. Bagheera is not apt to be around that much since he is a very shy cat.

Another of my kitten.
One of my favorite authors, Elizabeth Peters has quite a collection of cats and usually has a cat in her Amelia Peabody books.
As a writer, though still unpublished I find that even though I love to write Romance and read it, I try to stay away from it when writing. I read Mysteries for the most part. I love trying to figure out who is doing what or going to do what.

THis is my maine Coon Kitten Buffy... my little vampire slayer :-) He is actually the youngest of four cats and my other cat that I will put on here in a minute is Midnight who we call our VamCat because of the longer then usual fangs that hang down. After naming Midnight my daughter's boysfriend Shafi and I thought it would have been better to have named him Boo after the cat in the JR Ward vampire books. Oh well...

Happy New Year to all!!!

It's a snowy morning . Being inside all cozy and warm I am quiet content to veg... I don't get a chance to do that all that much and I find that even on the week-ends after a certain time in the morning if I'm still sitting I get yancy. Today I have a few things to do and also to organize my desk for Monday when I start back on my writing schedule. I haven't had a firm schedule for writing in a month.
When I don't write I read a ton, do research and I knit. I find that to be so relaxing and it helps when I feel like relaxing but can't. Handling yarn, feeling the fibers between my fingers, seeing the project take shape and then seeing it finished is great for me. I can knit a hat in a month. Now my mentor can knit one in a night. She will be teaching me to knit socks this next week on 3 or 4 double pointed needles no less. I have picked out some nice soft wool that is like sea glass colors since it's variegated. I have two hats going too. I was never one for hats but after our little cold spell in December and me with no hat I decided to get one at my favorite yarn shop. I was knitting two other hats at the time and like most people who knit (they never have the time to knit for themselves) so I bought a nice green one made of Alpaca and I found another. Then I tried on one that I had made for one for the kids in blue and white wool and decided I liked that one too. So now I have three to fit different moods.
My cats like it when I knit too. They love to chase the yarn when I am pulling on it. With four cats in the house I have to make sure I guard my yarn because If they get it out of my numerous baskets then next thing I know the dogs, mainly Mowgli has it and then chews it up...
I love watching the cats though and their antics. Yesterday they all were having fits trying to figure out how in the world they were going to get the squirrel that had taken over the feeder attached to one of the living room windows. They finally set up a truce of sorts and the squirrel ate and the cats watched . Once and a while you would see the bodies of the cats spasm like a spring or hear their funny meow that they reserve for when they are extremely frustrated. Now as I type they are racing around the house. Mowgli the 107 lb. Lab is happy to just sleep at my feet. Our Australian Cattle dog is pacing. She can't stand that she can't join in on the fun as the cats tear through the house.
As this new year starts I hope for peace. I know we all do. I hope for more time with my kids.
I also hope for one of my books to get published so maybe I can do that for a living...
