Writing

Writing or reading is for me kinda like eating popcorn. I just can't stop.
I have been having some really good days in regards to writing. This week-end I will edit. There are places that I know I have to add to. I am up to page 138 which excites me to no end. With all this writing I have a hard time relaxing and even when I go to sleep I find myself waking and then my brain goes into overdrive and I can't sleep... so I'm tired. I hope we as a family can watch a movie tonight. Bob's daughter is coming over with her boyfriend and we want to watch Anchor Man.
As I write I can hear my son and his friends. What a bunch of nuts...
Yesterday I went on a field trip with my youngest class at Chewonki. owls and lady slippers... I loved it!!!

The quote...

"Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we know all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?"
Anne Shirley of Anne of Green Gables

My little corner in my world...

My desk, minus or sans my computer. I was working down on the couch today so Mowgli wouldn't whine. As you can see I have a pile of books. My books to the left are some of my research books. The one behind my lamp are for my reading pleasure BUT I don't get a chance to read much during the week...
I love having my desk at the window. It gives me something to look at. There is much more scope for the imagination... as Anne of Green Gables would say. For some reason that doesn't quite sound right. Will have to look it up.

lost my head... or was that hat... no it as a pattern

My 10 year old son just informed me that I was as he put it... "You are obsessed Mom with knitting!!" I lost my pattern for the hat that I had  knitted before and have been knitting. I have been making hats more or less by the seat of my pants and really enjoying it but found this pattern and I like this pattern as it's super easy and I need easy at first. BUT patterns like recipes ... well for me they beg to be altered. BUT this time I was trying to stick to the pattern. This morning I figured it's quiet, I'll finish my hat then start on to another wonderful color of Burly Spun that I got from Paradise Fibers. I want to get a jump start on my hats for next winter. That way I can give away or sell BUT and it's a big BUT I can make two of the same color and keep one for ME :-)
So anyway after looking and looking on Ravelry, (on my favorites) I then ran over to Crazy Aunt Purl's blog but then thought ('type in Easy slouchy hat')... on Ravelry and I  found my pattern... so I saved it :-) Now all is well for the moment in my knitting world.
A little post script to the above post. A couple days later I was sitting knitting. I do all my knitting when waiting for the kids like at school or at night or on the week-ends when I can't write. Well anyway. the pattern that I couldn't find... I found in my knitting gadget bag...  Oh well!! Such as life :-)

The Belted Galaways

It was Unveiling Day today and boy were the babies so cute!!! This little one lost it's mother at birth so it's being bottle fed. The other mothers with babies weren't too friendly to it. The farm had quite a bit going on today and it drew a lot of folks. When you go down into the barn yard they have mats on the ground that has disinfectant to clean your shoes or boots. I wore my Wellies since I knew it would be messy... it was. Now I sit with my tea and warm up. Ian, Daniel and I dressed warm since it's drizzly and raw. Isn't # 8 so cute ?? The group of cattle are older heifers .

Happy Spring :-)

I don't normally get on here in the middle of the week as I am working on my book. It's not writing time, it's before 6am and I have a few quiet moments before all the boys get up and it's time to get things going for school. Today is early release day and with that comes less time for writing. My writing has been coming along well. The project is a secret one that only myself and my son know the subject matter. A year ago when he talked to me about it, maybe a bit longer I couldn't picture or get a handle on what he wanted. Then a couple months ago he was telling me again and what do you know I could picture it and while we were talking I started google(ing)... Can you imagine two people whose brains are working faster then their mouths or visa versa and we are both thinking, throwing out ideas, I'm google(ing) on top of it... That's our phone conversations most of the time :-) Well I took his idea that he wanted me to work with and went running and I haven't slowed down a bit. I do start to wonder at times, am I up to the task or can I handle a book like this...??? Then I send a text to my son and he replies with "Yes, you can Moma (That's his name for me)!!! You are a great writer!!!" Praise like that for someone who writes and writing is solitary picks up my spirits.
So I sit for a moment and enjoy the peace and quiet. I hear the shower, I have to wake people in stages to get a shower. We have eight people in this one, small house, along with two dogs and 4 cats. Not to mentioned the hamsters who just had babies... Freaking Mary's Ark!!!
My knitting is coming along fine too. I have three projects , more or less and one hat is almost done. I ordered up some more Burly Spun weight yarn for more winter hats for next season. The colors are great. I love bright colors!!! I get enough yarn so I can knit one to give away or sell and I have one too :-) It's  win win situation :-)
So I have my tea and enjoy my quiet... It won't last long.
